Grosse Pointe Yacht Club ~ Mary Beth + Steven 10/1/16

Mary Beth  and Steven  said I do on October 1, 2016. The day started off at The Westin Book Cadillac where the girls had their hair and makeup done. Once they were gussied up, the bridal party took photos together at the stunning hotel.

We love the First Look !!

The bridal party then moved to the church to get ready for the wedding. The inside of the church was so ornate that it didn't need any embellishment it was so beautiful.  The newly weds participated in a unity candle ceremony to symbolize their two lives joining together.

They did it !

The guests and bridal party then traveled to Grosse Pointe Yacht Club for the reception. Cocktail hour took place on the lower level of the yacht club which overlooked Lake St. Clair.

Got to love cool ring shots!

The couple spent some time outside on the grounds taking some stunning pictures after some time downtown inside the Fisher Building.

This shot is Magazine worthy!

The New Mr. and Mrs. before they enter their reception!

Once cocktail hour was over, guests moved upstairs to the ballroom.

The tables were decorated with different sized floral arrangements. There were also small gold candles scattered on the tables.

The table look by the Parsonage was just stunning!

The cake was cut before dinner. It had gold accents and beautiful pink flowers.

Finally, the new couple enjoyed dancing the night away with all of their friends and family.

Some may think the wedding itself is the big deal, but the wedding after party is just as important. Make sure you have a simple range of food available to guests and ensure the alcohol is flowing. Plan a secret surprise for guests at the end of your wedding day and finish the day with sky lanterns. Get guests involved with sparklers so young children can enjoy the fun with you.

Whatever you are planning for your special day, you can create an elegant and beautiful event to enjoy with those closest to you. Which wedding idea will you use for your wedding? Let me know in the comments below.

Don't Forget about the Bridesmaids

When it comes to bridesmaid dresses, we’ve seen it all over the years.. From breaking traditions to the mismatch trend, we’ve loved watching bridesmaid dresses evolve to better reflect individual styles.

What many women don’t realize, though, is that what goes on underneath their dress (hello lingerie!) is just as important to making their look and confidence all come together. We wanted to take a dive into this year’s bridesmaid dress trends in order to figure out their best lingerie match, ensuring the big day goes off without a hitch — or, you know, a strap slip.

To help us out, the folks over at Adore Me put together A Guide to the Perfect Marriage Between Your Bra and Bridesmaid Dress, where they go through varieties and styles of bras from their lingerie collection and match them with the right dress, making sure every bridesmaid feels comfortable and confident on the big day. Check it out!

Here are the trends we’re looking forward to most in 2017, with some tips for the right kind of bra to wear to rock your look with confidence and comfort.

Deep Plunge

Open backs have been a timeless favorite, and the deep plunge falls within the same sexy trend. A deep plunge is perfect for showing off your confidence, but to avoid any unintentional revealing mishaps, prepare with hollywood tape, breast petals, and/or of course the right bra! Look for something with proper support and a contour plunge shape..

One Shoulder
A classic strapless is prone to slipping and can really put a damper on what should be a worry-free evening.  A perfect compromise is the one shoulder: it’s practical and sleek. The single strap retains the elegance of a full strapless, but adds comfort and peace of mind. You can also wear a more supportive bra, like a classic convertible. Now you can cut loose with the bride and the rest of the guests on the dance floor all night without any wardrobe woes!

Flutter Sleeve

The flutter sleeve is one of our absolute favorites. A mixture of contemporary bohemian style with a vintage twist, this style is feminine and is flattering on everyone. Floral patterns, muted tones, or even metallic accents will enhance the sweeping silhouette style. With their surplice necklines, a good convertible push-up bra will give you the maximum amount of support and allure with minimal effort.

High Neckline

As with all trends, there is always a subtle homage  to the past. Voila, the high neckline. Traditionally made with lace and scalloped edges, this style has been updated with taffeta for an ultra sleek touch. There are also halter top variations if that’s more your style.

Indispensable People For Your Big Day

OK, so it might sound a little crazy to say this to the bride, but you do know that you are not all on your own when organizing your wedding, don't you? It can really seem that way sometimes, which makes it super stressful! Even though it's something that is meant to be the best day of your life! That is why you need to be smart and rely on friends, family and professional around you to give you as much support as possible. Read on to find out more.

Maid of honor

Your maid of honor isn't just a position that you give to your closest friend, it actually comes with quite a few responsibilities too. For example organizing the hen do.

But don't think that it stops there because you're made of honor should basically be the person in your corner throughout the whole thing. If you get a little emotional or everyone else is sick of talking about getting just that right shade of mint green for the napkins, then you maid of honor is the gal that you should be able to go to.

So it's pretty important that you choose wisely for this role. Pick someone that is honest but not bossy, and that is going to listen to you and make thing easier. Not harder!

Wedding planner

Many brides opt for getting a wedding planner, to help them out with all the hassle and stress both before and on the day, and who can blame them?

Consider this, do you want to be running around on your big day with a churning stomach, worried as to whether the cake is in the right place, and your decorators have put up the bunting property? Or do you want to be zen and calm and just focus on getting ready and enjoying one of the best days of your life?

pexels-photo-169190.jpeg

If it's the latter, then you may well be able to benefit from a wedding planner, and this is something that you should consider.

Photographer

Now, of course, you are going to want employ a professional photographer. So you have some professional photos as a lasting memory of the big day.

It doesn't mean that you family and guest can take some shots with their own cameras and smartphones. But what it does mean is that you will have a picture that is properly posed and framed, as a memento of the day, that you can look back on.

Your other half

pexels-photo-60258.jpeg

Of course, no wedding is going to happen, without the person that you are marrying, and they can be a great source of strength and help for the day as well.

To make everything run as smoothly as possible, it's a good idea to assign jobs that need to get done before the day to you and your partner. Give them as much free rein as possible, and then you won't have to decide everything by committee.

Also, ensure you talk about what elements of your wedding are important to you, and if there are any parts that you are distressed about. Then you can come up with a plan together that will deal with this.

March Couple of the Month ~ Ashley + Anthony ~ Waldenwoods

Flag Day 2013 - Pittsburgh, PA.  Ashley walked into Casey's Draft House for happy hour, and Anthony (perhaps rather inartfully) offered to buy her a drink. They went on their  first date a few days later to Mad Mex, and after she ordered a double steak burrito - and ended up wearing a portion of it - he knew she was special.  They started dating shortly after, and grew up together - from working as unpaid legal interns in the same building, to members of the Pennsylvania bar, to practicing attorneys.

Anthony moved to Philadelphia in 2016, for work,  and knew immediately that something was missing.  He proposed on April 9 - at Alla Famiglia in Pittsburgh, after a fantastic dinner - and Ashley joined him in Philly a few months later.

Now they will be getting married at Waldenwoods, in Ashley's hometown of Hartland, Michigan. They will be joined by a wedding party of 12 of their closest friends and family members. The colors will be multiple shades or purple accompanied by silver. The theme will be "once upon a time" incorporating vintage timepieces into the decorations, celebrating both the fairy tale magic of falling in love and  the beginning of a new chapter in their story.
