Appetizer How To's

When should appetizers be served?

Appetizers can be served at several different times throughout your wedding day. This all depends on when you want your guests to arrive and how long they will be waiting around. If you are having your guests arrive more than a half hour before the ceremony starts then something should be served while they are waiting. Now whether that is drinks and/or a small treat is up to you, but serving drinks can cause guests to become intoxicated and cause issues during the ceremony.

If you are planning on having photos done in between your ceremony and your reception than some type of appetizer should be served  during this time as well. Serving drinks at this time is more acceptable because you won't have to worry about unwanted interruption during your ceremony.

How long should a cocktail hour with appetizers be?

If you are having a cocktail hour before your ceremony I would recommend no longer than 45 minutes. If you choose to serve alcohol before the ceremony make sure you serve food as well to avoid drunk guest problems.

If you are having a cocktail hour after your ceremony, this could be a little bit longer but no more than 2 hours is recommended. You do not want this time in between to be too long because most venues only allow you to rent the space until midnight and it may cause you to cut your dancing time short.

What type of appetizers should be served?

Like I said, you can serve alcohol during your cocktail hour, just beware of the precautions that come along with it. Types of food that can be served are really dependent on your theme and what you are serving as the main course. You want to choose appetizers you and your guests will love, but some of the most common are fruits, cheese & crackers, and lunch meat platters.

July Bride of the Month ~ Margaret

Meet our July bride of the month, Margaret!
Margaret is getting married to Tony on August 21st, 2015 in Lake Orion, Michigan!

Tony proposed to Margaret at Bavarian Inn Lodge in Frankenmuth, MI. on Friday December 13th 2014. This was a very special date due to the numbers being consecutive 12/13/14. Tony knew this was a special date to Margaret. Tony and Margaret have taken the kids to Bronners for the past 3 years so everyone can pick their special ornament for that year. Tony had planned a romantic surprise in the hotel room the night before the family arrived. Tony and his Mom went up to Frankenmuth the day before to decorate the room and plan this special day. He even planned the "fake check-in" at the front counter for the following day when the family arrived just in case Margaret checked in with him. No one knew about this proposal except for Margaret's Dad (Rick) and Tony's Mother (Karen). When Margaret opened the hotel room door, she saw flowers petals on the floor that led to a sign hanging across the room that read, "Margaret, Will You Marry Me? Love, Tony", as well as a wooden sign, glass plaque, beer mugs, champagne, wine, and taco bell packets. Yes, Taco Bell Packets!! That read Will You Marry Me? It was perfect. Margaret cried and barely squeaked out a yes and the kids were over-joyed! It was an amazing moment for all of them.

Congratulations Margaret & Tony! YTB is thrilled to be a part of your special day and we are looking forward to making your wedding dreams a reality!

Enhance Your Detroit Wedding Day Glow

Everyone wants to look amazing on their wedding day. Adding a self tanner into your routine before your wedding can enhance your look. This can also help you avoid tanning beds and the damaging effects they cause.

Self tanners only take a few minutes out the day, and can work fast. You will want to start about a month before your big day and once you get down to the week before, re-apply a few days before your wedding to avoid the risk of getting your dress colored from the product. After a few days of showering you should be at the color you want, without the mess of the product.

Couple of the Month ~ Amanda + Anthony, Laurel Manor

Amanda and Anthony have set the big day for August 15, 2015.

Amanda
Growing up in Michigan with her two other siblings, Amanda became focused on sports, dance, and school activities. Nowadays, Amanda is a registered nurse, having graduated form Madonna University. She will be graduating with a masters as a nurse practitioner from Madonna by 2016. Between work, school, and planning a wedding, Amanda enjoys to travel, spend quality time with family and friends, and keep fit.

Anthony
Until the age of 12, Anthony lived in Nigeria with his parents and five siblings. He spent the latter half of his childhood growing up in New Jersey until he went away to college in Michigan. Anthony graduated from the University of Michigan with a Sociology degree and from the Henry Ford College with a Nursing Degree. Currently, Anthony is on his last year of medical school and will be graduating from Ross University in 2016.
Anthony's main interests include sports-coaching for the Special Olympics in Michigan, and working for charity organizations and mission relief programs including aiding the 2010 earthquake victims in Haiti. Anthony is also an avid traveler having been to over twenty countries!

Bride's Story

Love at First Sight
The happy couple met at a local bar one evening in 2010. They approached one another from across the room and were amazed by how much they had in common despite having opposite backgrounds. Both share a love and compassion for helping others and learning from one another to constantly grow.

The Proposal

She Said 'Yes'
After dating for three years, it was time to pop the question. Anthony planned the whole event perfectly on Amanda's birthday. The location was on a warm, sandy beach in Jamaica equipped with candlelight dinner. A photographer was even on the ready to capture all of the magical moments.

The honeymoon is set for the island of Turks and Caicos.
