Choosing A Destination Wedding

Choosing a destination wedding is a great idea for the couple who wants to get away and relax with family and friends. A destination wedding can be a money saver for a bride and groom with the average costing $17,000 for 100 guests. It can also reduce some stress in planning a wedding. Many couples worry about their guest list and who to include on their big day. A destination wedding is an intimate event, which results in a much smaller guest list. Combining your destination wedding with your honeymoon can be an exciting two week adventure. It is important to consider some things like the time of year and if your guest will be able to take off work to attend. Also, when choosing a destination you must decide if you want to go somewhere passports are required. Make sure to take your time and really research into a place your are considering.
Top 10 Most Affordable Destinations:
1. Mexico
2. Las Vegas
3. Florida
4. Jamaica
5. Dominican Republic
6. Bahamas
7. California
8. Hawaii
9. Canada
10. Poconos

We are currently working on a destination wedding for a bride getting married in Northern Michigan at Garland Resort, Lewiston, MI. Make sure you look for our interview in the current March issue of Metro You Magazine on destination weddings. If you need help planning your destination wedding give us a call at 248-408-4602 or email tracie@yourethebride.com

Guest book Alternatives

For those of you creative brides that don't just want a book filled with names collecting dust on the table, here are some twists on the traditional guest book:

*Fingerprint Tree- Have guest put finger in ink and stamp on paper then write there name over it

*Polaroid Pictures- Have guest take polaroid picture and write messages at the bottom of it

*Photo Book- Create a book of you and your fiancee and have guest sign all throughout the book

*Garden Rocks- Set out rocks on a table explaining to your guest to sign these instead

*Poster- Get a poster of something significant or a photo of the two of you and surround it with matting for your guests to sign

*Video- Set up a video camera or if hired a videographer use them to have your guest record their well wishes

*Anniversary Message- Assign each table an anniversary year and let the guests at that table leave notes to be opened on their first, second, third and so on

Tips for a Successful Ceremony

During the wedding ceremony it is important the bride and groom really show who they are as a couple. Most ceremonies are so "cookie cutter" these days, but here are some ways to make your ceremony extra special:

*Speak From the Heart-This will really draw people into you and your partner's relationship, your vows should be warm and show the other person how committed you are

*Know your Officiant- Unless they have known you for years, they really have no idea who you and your partner are as a couple

*Get Cultural- A great way to celebrate not just the joining of two families, but of two cultures so try to incorporate different aspects of each others cultures

*Include Everybody- The ceremony is the part that holds the most meaning, assign family members to light the unity candle or assign friends different readings

If your note sure how to go about planning your wedding ceremony give us a call to see if you would be interested in our services. If you are looking for a officiant try one of these gentleman as they are both great!

Engagement Parties

Engagement parties are a great way for the couples to share in their excitement of their engagement with family and friends. It is also a good opportunity to introduce the families to each other. An engagement party should be thrown 2 to 4 months after the couple is engaged, that way it gives the couple enough time to enjoy their engagement and envision what kind of wedding they want to have. When throwing an engagement party you want to make sure that all the guests you invite will also be invited to the wedding. Engagement parties don't require gifts and are normally intimate affairs. Most importantly remember their is still a wedding to plan and although you want to plan an unforgettable affair, you don't want it to upstage the wedding. Decide whether you want a casual cook-out, cocktail party, home cooked dinner party, or whatever style fits the couple.

If you need us to plan your engagement party give us a call at 248-408-4602 or email tracie@yourethebride.com

*NEW* Bride of The Month Feature

We have started a new monthly feature called "Bride of the Month".  Jamie, our June 8th bride, is our first bride we are featuring! Jamie met her fiancee Jason in November, 2009. They were both part of the same friend circle and met at a party. Neither of them were looking for anything serious, but Jamie fell for his charming personality and handsome looks. Jamie and Jason enjoy cooking, camping, and spending time having fun with family and friends. Jason popped the question on May 1, 2011, the first night the couple set sail on a Caribbean cruise.

Their ceremony will be taking place at The Royal Park Hotel Conservatory and the reception will follow in the Grand Ballroom. The wedding party consists of 5 bridesmaids, 5 groomsmen, 2 flower girls, and 2 ring bearers. Her wedding colors are eggplant and silver.

You're The Bride is looking forward to coordinating and sharing their special day!

You were amazing! Right from the invitations, to the helpful hints, to the table settings to escorting Sparty, to bustling the broken bustle, to taking care of the gifts....I am so glad you were there!!
