Rita called me in early February after finding me on Google to tell me she needed help pulling everything together and that she also needed a few vendor recs. She was so much fun to work with and her wedding day turned out beautiful. They had their ceremony at the White House Wedding Chapel in Warren which is a very nice little chapel so if you are not affiliated with a church check it out. Kris and her team are great! Rita and Palemon looked great and had a really wonderful time. They both burned up the dancefloor and Palemon sure had some great moves! Will was there from Silverhook Studios filming the day. It was the first time we worked together but I have been talking to him on and off for a few years so I am glad that one of my brides finally booked him! Larry from Edwards Photography was very organized in getting all the photos done and I can't wait to see the pictures that will be up on their website. The Ukrainian Cultural Center where the reception was held has a great staff they are so friendly and their food is amazing. The room looked absolutely beautiful and that was thanks to Thrifty Florist, Elegant Chair Covers and Living Energy provided the uplighting and gobo in the entry way. I am such a huge fan of lighting it really changes the whole look of the room so if you can possibly squeeze an extra $600 out of your budget you really should go for it! I couldn't wait to see the look on Rita's face and she was blown away by how fantastic everything looked. I kept telling her through the planning not to worry and that it will all come together just fine and it sure did. We can't forget the yummy cake provided by Hodell's. Not sure why they don't have a website but they should really get one. It's probably because they have been in the biz for 50 years so you can say they are pretty established! Rita's baker fell through just a few weeks before the wedding but no worries as I have used them in the past. Their cake rocks and she even ordered a bumpy cake for Palemon. YUM! I also put together a candy buffet at Rita's request which was a BIG HIT for all ages. My favorite part of the evening was when Rita tossed her bouquet as she went with the song I suggested. Gwen Stefani's Holla Back Girl! It was perfect, this song had to be played because every single email Rita wrote to me at the end she would type Holla Back and that cracked me up! I heard that song on the radio one day and I told her we had to use it so that was our little joke. I will miss those emails but if your reading this Ms. Rita you better Holla Back and keep in touch! My sidekick Jessie helped me out again this weekend as this was a huge wedding party and it was really nice to have an extra pair of hands and her to help me with all the running around! Thanks girlie xo!

Courtney from New Media Strategies was gracious enough to offer another winner on the cake contest we recently hosted. So the last winner is Marcie Woodard, September 27, 1997. Here is a pic of her cake. Congrats! She is receiving a JC Penney gift card too! Thanks for participating.

Sunday was a gorgeous day for Kelly and Dave. I always tell my brides that I order the weather ahead of time for them and it usually works, ha ha. They are a sweet couple who met on E-Harmony! Kelly implemented her many great ideas into a really unique celebration on Sunday, May 24th. The ceremony was officiated by her Uncle in The Pendleton Room at the U of M Union in Ann Arbor. It was nice to hear some different music for the processional as the bridal party walked down the aisle to "Seasons of Love" from the musical "Rent" and her entrance was to "At Last"by the great Etta James all played on a piano. The reception was held in a Barn with animals joining the guests at the cocktail hour! Ok now I know what your thinking but it was at Cobblestone Farm in Ann Arbor and in a very chic nice barn. Everything turned out amazing from the linens, flowers and the food. Sylvia and Christy from Bridal Beauty made all of the girls look beautiful by doing their hair and make-up for the day. Mary Ann Ross was there to play the tunes and as usual her dance floor was packed! She is the classiest DJ around I love her and she was MY wedding DJ 12 years ago so give her a call if you want a great party! It was great to see and work with her again. Ryan from Epic Motion is another great vendor who was there filming the day. It was a first for me to work with Photographer Kristen Taylor but she was great as well and I can't wait to see the great pics! Kelly had a undergrad student shoot pictures of the guests at a make-shift photo booth being silly while using props such as old vintage hats, mustaches, banjo's and more. They loved it and it didn't take any encourgement from me to get it going they just knew what to do! Iced cold tea and lemonade along with beer and wine was offered to wet the whistle of each guest. I do have to say the lemondae was the best I ever had! Food For All Seasons Catering supplied the delicious food family-style for dinner. This caterer really has it together so give them a call if for some reason your hall doesn't come with a caterer. Instead of having cake for all of her guests Kelly chose a small chocolate cake to cut from and the most yummiest cupcakes ever for the guests. If your looking for a over-the-top cupcake call this woman now Cakes By Rubina. I have to mention the cake top was 2 hikers not your typical bride and groom. They love to hike so a great way to personalize her cake. Jessie my new assistant this season was there to help organize and set-up the day and was a huge help to me! She even caught her first seating snafu and fixed it before guest arrival. Yay! It was a great party enjoyed by all!

Birchcrafts studios has some beautiful pocket style invitations. Whats nice about these is you can put the reception and respond cards in the pocket so they don't fall out of the invite when your guest opens them. It's just a nice way to present your invitation. Check them out!

Ann Arbor Sheraton. Ann is the sweetest bride and looked absolutely gorgeous. Erich is one lucky guy! I am so happy that there was no rain since it has been a pretty rainy week. I got to work with some vendors that I never worked with before so that was fun among them was Photojournalist Photographer Marci Curtis out of Troy. Check out her work at http://www.marcicurtis.com/ Not only is she very friendly but she takes beautiful pics! Mark from http://www.soundscene.net/ was great and kept the dancefloor packed. It was pretty easy because Ann and Erich and their guests really knew how to party! They started the night off with a surprise visit from MSU Sparty. Probably not the best idea coming to Ann Arbor on U of M graduation day! ha ha but he made it and survived! Pask Video was there and talk about a production crew they showed up with 4 guys it was like they were making a major motion picture! LOL Ann's cake was not only unique by the design she came up with for the whole theme of her wedding decor but delicious too! Desserts by Randy made the yummy cake with her circle design. Gen from Lily's Garden and Suzanne from Candelight Expressions took care of the flowers and chaircovers. They even did Karaoke towards the end of the night. All is all it was a great party! Now she is probably laying on a beach in the Dominican Republic..aaahh..they deserve it!
So I got a call from a Mother of the Bride on Monday who needs His and Hers baskets for her daughter's upcoming wedding reception. I just got done working on them so take a look. Let me know if you need these for your reception. Ladies is $45 and Men's is $35.
