Italian American Cultural Center~Jillian + Dave 10-2-09

We didn't let the rain spoil Jill's special day. She looked absolutely amazing and her groom Dave in Jill's words "oh he is so good looking"! I remember her telling me this at one point during the reception...so cute! I loved working with Jill as she was so much fun and she cracked me up on many occasions with the funny things she would say to me in her emails and on the phone! She definately has a great sense of humor and while planning an event of a lifetime you need to have that on your side :)

Bridal Beauty handled the hair/make-up for all the ladies and as usual they do a awesome job on my Bridal Party's.

Basel and his assistant Kathy, from Precious Memories were shooting the day starting at Jill's parents house. She rented Eleanor Roosevelt's 59 cadillac limo from Limo World to bring her and the girls to St. Mary's in Royal Oak. What a cool looking car! Unfortunately I didn't get any pics of the car to post. Tony from A1 Video met us at the church. This is the first videographer that I have met in 10 years of doing weddings that actually stays to the end like I do! He is very dedicated and I am looking forward to seeing his work since that was the first time we met. Be sure to check out his trailer from the day!

The room at Partridge Creek looked fabulous! AECC Linens took care of those details. Jill chose chocolate and cashmere satin for her linens and chaircovers. The floral arrangements from Mary Jane Flowers were a mix of high and low's with roses, hydrangeas, berries and more.

The food at the reception was amazing and they have the best Italian Wedding Soup! The couple treated their guests to a yummy chocolate fountain/dessert bar. Gwen from Trifles sure has done a lot of my cakes this season and Jill hired her also. Yay! She really can rock a cake, they are sooo good and beautifully designed.

Marc and his assistant from Night and Day Productions kept the music going and a great time was had by all!

The newlyweds are honeymooning in Hawaii...aaahhh doesn't that sound lovely right about now?

Bride Spotlight: Jillian
Happy Bride Speaks out about Lots of Money Saved!!

The thought of hiring a wedding planner was always more of a dream than a reality. Having never missed an episode of 'Whose Wedding is it Anyway' or 'Bridezillas', I was preparing for my wedding long before the engagement ring donned my left ring finger. However, once the wedding planning began and the project task list continued to grow, having a full-time job and maintaining sanity planning this blessed affair became unbearable. The stress of getting everything done on time was not as large of a concern compared to how the day was going to pan-out seeing as I couldn't be the Bride and the wedding planner simultaneously. Hence, researching the surrounding area wedding planners that offer day of services turned me to wedding planner extraordinaire Tracie Morris. My overall goal and expectation of hiring Tracie was to simply be able to Hand off the Wedding Baton the night before my wedding. Being comfortable delegating and relinquishing control over nine months of planning and the coordination of a party that amounts to nearly one-half a years salary (sad, I know), was not an easy task. That is, until, I met Tracie. There is a certain comfort and overwhelming ease of being in the presence of someone who 'just get's it'. Tracie reviewed all of the items I had planned thus far, supplied recommendations for those I had not yet confirmed/ researched and served as an enormous asset in the world of weddings. I never realized at the time I booked Tracie the benefits I would reap & amount of money I would save. Tracie was able to provide expert feedback and valuable information, saving me huge amounts of time and money. For example, I had received two quotes from comparable linen companies that were in a five-hundred dollar range of one-another. Still not being comfortable spending $2500.00 dollars on rentals, Tracie referred me to a linen company she frequently works with. I set up an appointment & ended up getting equally identical linens for only $1300.00. That saved me $1200 dollars! The same thing happened with the wedding invitations. I received a quote for the invites I loved, however, tossed and turned over spending $1200.00 dollars on paper that may get thrown out. Tracie was able to order the invites through her wedding planning company as a vendor and the grand total was $900.00. That's another $300 dollars saved! She also saved me $2000.00 on flowers! Along with the extra income of $3,500 in total saved, I was also able to use Tracie's input on how to word, format, & what she see's with other brides regarding invitation wording.
Overall, Tracie's day of services fee was paid for x 5 for and I still get to have her as a day of planner and resource for the next two months. She is a wonderful resource if you are a Bride like I who is planning and funding her own wedding and needs someone On Her Side for opinions and feedback. I highly recommend hiring Tracie & I can't imagine doing this without her.

Calligraphy vs. Handwriting

Yes, calligraphy is another expense but the envelope is the first thing your guest sees when opening up your wedding invitation. Why not save yourself the time and stress of handwriting them all yourself. We offer 2 styles and are offering a special discount for the month of September. The one shown is Grace. See below for offer. If you or someone you know needs their envelopes done let me know asap so we can get their order on the schedule. We also can do placecards, signs or anything else you need for the wedding or another event.
Tip: Invitation ordering

When ordering your wedding invitations be sure to order one invitation per couple not one for each person unless they are a single. I had a bride call me this morning after she realized that she ordered way too many when she placed her order on our website. This happens often so be sure to double-check your list. You do want to order a few extras but you don't need 50 extras! If you are going to be ordering your invitations soon or know someone that is be sure to tell them about our Invitations 101 class that has been recorded as a .mp3 for you to download and listen to at any time. It is full of tips and advice so I hope you listen to it before you place your order. Click here to get to the .mp3 on our site invitations class mp3

Northville Hills Golf Club ~ Marianne and Brian Finally Tie the Knot!! 9-4-09

What a great day for Brian and his sweetie Marianne. I believe they have been together for about 9 years so that is why I say finally tie the knot- congratulations to both of you!! You both looked amazing! Marianne was really worried about wedding stuff, especially the weather so she took matters into her own hands and hung rosaries in doors and brooms in trees!! Her plans all worked out perfectly and everything came together without a hitch. They choose the beautiful Northville Hills Golf Course for their ceremony and reception. Rev. Ron Heilner from http://www.weddingceremoniesmi.com/ officiated the outdoor ceremony. He and I have worked together several times and always does a great job!
Talk about a radiant glowing bride, Marianne, looked gorgeous in her gown and loved being a bride! I enjoyed watching her relax and enjoy her special day and that girl can dance! Of course that was easy because Daryl from Memory Maker DJ's was there to spin the tunes! He is a great DJ, kept the crowd motivated and his announciating skills are upbeat and perfect. Dan from Lennon Photo was their photographer capturing some fantastic shots on the grounds. I got to work with Shelby and Aaron from Forever Cherished Productions. They are a young hip team that does a great video. They put together a video trailer for me so you can get an idea of their work and so M+B can get a little taste of what is to come. http://forevercherishedproductions.com/blog/

Marianne wanted her cake to be a little different so she chose a design that incorporated meaningful words such as "Love", "Happiness", "Respect". Gwen from Trifles made the yummy cake that had chocolate and banana split flavored layers. Her cakes always rock! In addition to their cake they treated their guests to a amazing chocolate fountain which is always a huge hit!

Sue and Tammy from Flower-Solutions took care of all the flowers and centerpieces. They decorated the arch for the ceremony and it looked so beautiful. Marianne came up with a unique idea for the bouquet toss so she provided the florist with a bunch of dollar bills and lottery tickets . They put together a really neat bouquet for her to throw to not just the "single" ladies but all the ladies had a chance to win! What a fun idea! Can't wait to share it with my other brides for something different!

Woodfield Golf Club Wedding ~ Sarah + Rick 8/22/09

Sarah and Rick were referred to me by previous clients Amber and Chad. Thanks A+C! It was great to see you guys again. I hope your dog is going to be ok.

Sarah and her girls started their day with a little pampering at Todd's Room in Birmingham. They do a great job there and it is worth the drive since this wedding was up in Grand Blanc. Blue Drive Weddings did all the driving though so they didn't have to.

The ceremony and reception were both at Woodfield Golf Course so that made it really easy for the guests. Sarah walked down the aisle to "Dancing Queen" by Abba which was played beautifully by The Rondo String Quartet. The couple's friend Tony officiated the ceremony so that was a very special touch and meant a lot to them. I have to mention Rick's Mom, Sue, she is so talented and sure has a craft for making things for weddings. She made the ring bearer pillows and these cute little tissue packets for the guests.

Following the ceremony the guests enjoyed cocktails and appetizers on the veranda while Rich Schultz of Icapture Images worked on getting some great pictures along with his video team. Rich has promised me a video clip of the day so I am going to hold him to it...can't wait to see it!

Sherry from Vogt's from downtown Flint and her team did a fabulous job on the ceremony decor and centerpieces. Sarah and Rick wanted something a little different so they had tall cylinders with lemons and limes on a silver charger along with some daisies and more lemon and lime slices to garnish the charger. Their colors were chocolate brown and yellow but this splash of green from the limes really looked nice.

This couple has a love for great music so instead of using table numbers they gave each table a band name. The vendor table was ZZtop and of course the head table was Abba with several others from Beastie Boys, Weezer, Kiss, Hall and Oates, U2 and many more. What a great idea! They gave their guests a cute chocolate brown tuxedo box complete with a lottery ticket and guitar pick with their picture on it for a memento. Rick has been a huge fan of Jedi Mind Trip Band out of Saginaw for years so it was a real treat to have them play his wedding reception. Sarah and Rick even got on stage with the band and sang to their guests! They were having a fabulous time! The band was awesome and I can't wait to tell my clients about them and the price is right too. Todd from JRB Sound was there to do the intro's and cover the band breaks. The dance floor was packed and everyone had a blast!

Lorrie from Special Occasions did a fabulous job with her chaircovers and linens to pull the whole look together. Rhonda from Tasty Layers made a beautiful cake. I have been talking to Rhonda on and off for a while now so it was so great to finally meet her and taste her cake and they truly are tasty! The guests had a blast going in and out of the photobooth that Shutterbooth provided. Megan and Danielle were great hostesses putting together the photo album for the bride and groom. What a great change from the boring guestbook! You take your 4 pictures, you get a strip to take home and then one goes into the album and you sign it with your message!

St. Mary's Cultural Center Livonia ~ Crystal + Chris 8/15/09

Saturday was hot but a great day for Crystal and Chris. I met them 4 years ago at Chris' sister Nicole's wedding. Crystal booked me 2 years in advance to do day-of coordination because she saw me in action at Nicole's wedding and wanted a stress-free day! I was very excited for this wedding to finally get here because this couple chose to do a Elegant Harley-Davidson themed wedding since they are in a bike club and riding is a bike part of their lives.
Tifany from Gourmet Invitations took some inspiration from the Harley logo and after some discussion with Crystal came up with these really cool invites to set the tone to the event. Crystal's uncle is a hairdresser in Flint and did all the girls hair and Sylvia and her team from Bridal Beauty was there to do make-up and they both made each girl look and feel beautiful! The ceremony was at First Presbyterian of Plymouth and ended with a butterfly release to remember loved ones especially Crystal's Mom who was there in spirit. They booked almost all the same vendors that Nicole and Brad did from their wedding so it was nice to work with everyone again. Steve from Rawlinson Photography and his assistant Stan captured all of the great pics and Alan and Tracy of Lockwood Media Group even put together a same day edit to show them a overview of the big day which I have included below.
I arranged 1/2 of Crystal's do-it-yourself centerpieces which were 3 vases in different sizes with orange aqua beads, roses, uplighting and 3 orange votives. The other 1/2 of the centerpieces Weber's from Livonia took care of and they were orange gerber daisies in tall vases with marbles and uplighting with more votives. The room at St. Mary's Cultural Center looked amazing and we also owe that to Jennifer at All About Elegance for providing the black chaircovers. Brian from Elite Sweets, which is my favorite bakery by the way supplied the yummy cake and adorned it with a Harley cake topper.
Other special touches that the bride and groom had were 3 motorcycles on display, a saddlebag for their card box and the best truffles I have ever had at each placesetting! I think in 1o years of doing weddings Crystal's bustle was the first one that did not break all night. Thank you to Dior Bridal from Dearborn for doing such a excellent job! I am always fixing the bride's bustle and it was so nice not to have her miss time away from her jammin dancefloor to do repairs! A great time was had by all and now the new Mr. and Mrs. are in Gatlinburg, TN for some R&R and will probably sneak a bike ride in!
Check out the overview from the day....

Flint Golf Club 4th of July Wedding! Tiffany + Eugene

So this year I celebrated the 4th of July with a fantastic couple from Brooklyn, New York. Tiffany hired me for my Satin Service over the phone back in February to help her with her Flint, MI wedding. She is from Saginaw, MI but decided to have her outdoor ceremony and reception at the Flint Golf Club. Hair was done at Cyril Salon in Flint and Make-up Artist, Talya Ashford gussied the girls up and they all looked amazing! I don't think she has a website but call if if your looking for a make-up artist 313-719-8277. The guests enjoyed cocktails, appetizers and the smooth music of Blu Mykals on the Terrace and then we moved inside for the reception. Blu doesn't have a website but you can call him at 810-610-2437. Dinner was delicious! We had everything from ribs, sweet potatoes to mac n'cheese! YUM! Probably the best wedding reception food I have had in a while and I taste a lot. They had a gorgeous wedding cake made by Nicole at Custom Cake Designs, 989-634-9767. I had the funfetti flavor and it was so good! Lisa from Magnificient Floral Events handled all of the flowers and they were magnificient. She is a great florist and has unique ideas! My favorite centerpieces were the ones with grapefruit in them. If you want something that's not like the rest give her a call. After dinner we surprised the guests with a photo booth and candy buffet. This was hidden behind closed doors and everyone was so excited! If your looking for something different to do at your wedding check out http://www.miphotobooth.com/
Kahn Santori Photography was there to capture all of the shots and he does some unique things that impressed me! Can't wait to see the pictures! Of course, my girl Sara from Platinum Mix was there to rock the dancefloor. Now the happy couple is somewhere over by Venezuela enjoying their honeymoon!

Ukranian Cultural Center ~ Rita and Palemon

Rita called me in early February after finding me on Google to tell me she needed help pulling everything together and that she also needed a few vendor recs. She was so much fun to work with and her wedding day turned out beautiful. They had their ceremony at the White House Wedding Chapel in Warren which is a very nice little chapel so if you are not affiliated with a church check it out. Kris and her team are great! Rita and Palemon looked great and had a really wonderful time. They both burned up the dancefloor and Palemon sure had some great moves! Will was there from Silverhook Studios filming the day. It was the first time we worked together but I have been talking to him on and off for a few years so I am glad that one of my brides finally booked him! Larry from Edwards Photography was very organized in getting all the photos done and I can't wait to see the pictures that will be up on their website. The Ukrainian Cultural Center where the reception was held has a great staff they are so friendly and their food is amazing. The room looked absolutely beautiful and that was thanks to Thrifty Florist, Elegant Chair Covers and Living Energy provided the uplighting and gobo in the entry way. I am such a huge fan of lighting it really changes the whole look of the room so if you can possibly squeeze an extra $600 out of your budget you really should go for it! I couldn't wait to see the look on Rita's face and she was blown away by how fantastic everything looked. I kept telling her through the planning not to worry and that it will all come together just fine and it sure did. We can't forget the yummy cake provided by Hodell's. Not sure why they don't have a website but they should really get one. It's probably because they have been in the biz for 50 years so you can say they are pretty established! Rita's baker fell through just a few weeks before the wedding but no worries as I have used them in the past. Their cake rocks and she even ordered a bumpy cake for Palemon. YUM! I also put together a candy buffet at Rita's request which was a BIG HIT for all ages. My favorite part of the evening was when Rita tossed her bouquet as she went with the song I suggested. Gwen Stefani's Holla Back Girl! It was perfect, this song had to be played because every single email Rita wrote to me at the end she would type Holla Back and that cracked me up! I heard that song on the radio one day and I told her we had to use it so that was our little joke. I will miss those emails but if your reading this Ms. Rita you better Holla Back and keep in touch! My sidekick Jessie helped me out again this weekend as this was a huge wedding party and it was really nice to have an extra pair of hands and her to help me with all the running around! Thanks girlie xo!
